Pous de l’Abiar

Els Pous de l’Abiar is a set or network of underground wells and cisterns that collect water in the lower area of ​​the Abiar area. Possibly this hydraulic system comes from the technical knowledge on the subject of the Arab settlers in the area.

A windmill remains from the original complex, which until recently served as a natural fountain. In addition, there are two other wells in its vicinity. Until the 1990s, these wells served as a source of water for residents, for irrigating vegetables and even as a livestock watering hole. In addition, in the area there was a public laundry – traditional in the towns of the area – where women went down to do their laundry from the town, taking advantage of the water from the wells. In the 70s this public building was demolished.

Currently, next to the wells there is a small picnic area and organic community gardens.
