Carrer Gateta, Buenos Aires Street. The street where we are now recalls one of the most important emigrations that the pobleros carried out, the emigration to Argentina. The economic crisis that devastated the country at the end of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century made the inhabitants of El Pueblete desolated, so many of them emigrated to America, searching for better living and working conditions.

The most common destinations were USA, Canada, Cuba, and, above all, Argentina. Commonly, the emigrations had an aim, to improve the economic situation of the immigrants, not only for themselves, but also for their families. The worst part was that the families had to pay the trip to Argentina and to keep them until they found a job.

Going to Argentina was not a free option. This country was making propaganda in Europe, making them believe that there, in Argentina, the state gave the immigrants land in order to get work, which did not prove to be completely true.

The attraction for this place was logic for the population. They were totally desperate. They only wanted to improve in their way of life.
