Casinos, traditionally, the bars at Benitatxell were called casinos due to the influence of the cultural or economic level of the 19th century society. During the Republic, the more conservative ones went to Pepe Buigas Maruidas’ bar, and the more republicans or liberal ones went to Juan del Casino’s bar. Both casinos were one beside the other.
We cannot say that Maruidas was a conservative man, or Juan del Casino a liberal man. It depended on the political ideas of the customers that used to go to these casinos. The two men were not conscious of the customers’ political ideas. On the other hand, young people used to go to the «The Inocencio» casino. Inocencio was an extravagant man, a musician who played the piano in the church and a composer from musical performances and nativity scenes that were played in the village. Young people enjoyed singing songs in the casino, written by Inocencio, even when he was in a bad mood.
