The new old Town Hall, nowadays, the Town Hall of El Poble Nou, is not the first one that the town had. The first Town Hall, which had the services of the village court, post office and prison, changed its location in 1934 Due to bad conservation of the building, the services given by the Town Hall moved to the old schools.
Later, on July 22nd, 1948, the Town Hall was officially moved to the current building, and several remodeling were done in the following decades. Here is where the copy of the Carta Pobla is conserved, granted by the Marquis of Denia in 1968. We cannot forget that the history of Benitachell does not begin at this moment, but goes back several centuries. There are documents that prove King Jaume II, on December 31st, 1313, gave to Guillaume Serra the power to buy and sell the farmhouses called Benitachell and Alabiar, located at Denia’s general term.
