Jaume Xovell Chapel. This chapel was built at the end of the 19th century, when the priest, Jaume Xovell, founded the building to provide assistance to people who were most in need. At the beginning, it was a school for girls. During the Civil War, it suffered several damages. Also, it was used to help evacuees’ families, developing an important social role in the community.

At the same time, it was the headquarters of UGT in Benitatxell, the responsible for giving help to the families in need was Joaquín Márquez Pascual. In addition, the local military locked in this building some of the religious men in the village, trying to protect them from the military coming from other towns, and avoid that these men were murdered. In fact, priest Plácido was murdered. He was a relevant local priest in the village. Once he died, military threw him into the graves in the mountain between Xàbia and Dénia. Today, there is a street called Pare Plácido in his honor.
