Panels of saints. In the town center of El Poblenou de Benitatxell, we find several houses with images of saints on their facades. This decorative element was made by the families who, supposedly, had asked for help to a saint and it was given to them.

The religious fervor of the town can be explained by the actions of Joaquina Cuesbo Espert, who dedicated all her life to pray and recite all of the prayers aloud during the novenas of María Magdalena at El Poble Nou in Teulada. Joaquina was a very appreciated woman in the town, where her way of living and manners stood out. Due to her eyesight problems, she could not read. Then, she memorized the prayers and recited them during the thirty-nine days, from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday, so all the inhabitants could listen and pray.
