Water wells of Aviar, curiously, we are facing a linguistic redundancy. The toponym Aviar means, in Arabic, the wells, and refers to the ones that allow a watered area in the places where the agriculture is rain-fed. The hydraulic system is a legacy from the technical knowledge of the Arabs in the area.

The wells supplied water to the population of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell until the 70s, being a fact of vital importance during the Civil War and the post-war period. The windmill is preserved from the original set, which served as a natural fountain until not so long ago. Furthermore, near this site, there are two other water wells that served, until the 90s, as a source of water for the neighbors, for watering vegetables and even for a cattle trough. It is important to remember that there was a public laundry in the area where women came down to do the laundry.
