Headquarters of the anti-cacique of El Poblano de Benitatchell at the beginning of the 20th century. The strength that caciques had in regional politics permitted the emergence of a movement that was united in the so-called anti-cacique leagues, where the politician Romuerto Catalá stood out. It seemed that the caciques had disappeared, but nothing further from reality.
The followers of Romuerto had meetings and conferences at the headquarters of the towns. In our town they met in the Raconet. General Berenguer, following the rules to return the safety and restoration of the king, began to have false elections, in which political parties could participate, even the local caciques. One of the most shocking events was the one against taxes, in which women from Benitatchell and Javea participated.
