Yacimiento arqueológico Cova de les Bruixes

Archaeological site Coba de les Bruixes. We are in a place with a special mystique, fruit of that, stories and legends arise as the one told here, called the Cave of the Witches. It is said that it was a refuge for the smugglers, who, at night, would light fires in the area in order to scare off unwanted visitors.
These fires could be seen from the village. And the children were told that the witches used to gather there to make witches’ covens, so that nobody could approach near the cave. Nowadays, it is an archaeological site that includes all of the cultures that have been set up in the village, from Iberians to the first Christian settlers, above all Andalusian evidence.
It is not known if the cave was used as a yard or for a home, although it is known that it was used as a farmyard and to keep the cereal collected, fact that we can see on the walls we find here. Archaeological structures have been found under a series of terraces, belonging to an Andalusian hamlet, called Alaviar, documented in 1277. We have known about it since the 80s, but the first archaeological intervention was carried out in 2000. After three excavations, the structures have been exposed until today.
