Route description

Between the terms of Teulada-Moraira and El Poble Nou de Benitatxell is one of the most beautiful coves with the greatest character on the entire coast of the Costa Blanca and which can only be accessed either by sea, by boat, or on foot through paths that, starting from the Moraig area in El Poble Nou de Benitatxell or the Barranc de la Viuda in Teulada-Moraira, lead us along truly charming paths that make pleasant just to walk through them.

And arriving at the cove and finding that picturesque setting of tranquility and relaxing exclusivity, with the very small huts that served as shelter for fishermen and that now offer shade to the visitor is exciting, as is diving in and discovering seabeds that are usually transparent and overflowing with life.

TheCala LlebeigIt has an E/SE orientation so it is exposed to winds from the East, but if this orientation does not blow we will find it calm. It is best to enter from the right side, where there is a small coastal strip of gravel, since the rest is more or less large stone, although we can really leave what we are carrying anywhere and jump into the water. We will find that the bottom is at first formed by rock bowls, boulders of considerable size that as we advance give way to platforms of whitish and polished rock, very luminous. The ideal is to head towards the islet that can be seen at the southern end of the cove and to get there we will also cross a hard bottom covered with brown algae that sometimes gives way to rocks of considerable size and sparkling sandbanks, which remain like gorges between rock walls.

Next to the islet we find another submerged one, with its vertex just over half a meter of water, and which drops to -4 meters. It is interesting, if the sea is calm, to pass between them, in a kind of gorge about 10 meters long. Then we can go around the large islet and we will see a meadow of lush Posidonia oceanica and later a shallow pass next to the tip of the cove. Here the rocks and the thousand holes and hiding places that the abundant marine life colonizes reappear. There will be common encounters with obladas, mabras, bream, salps, castanets and other small fish that sometimes move as fast as lightning when predators such as sea bream or sea bass, which patrol these waters, appear.
