The coastline of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell is fully declared as a Site of Community Interest under the name «Penya-segats de la Marina» (Cliffs of the Marina). This environment, which also includes the coast of Xàbia and Teulada-Moraira, has a common preserved orography, in which there are typical habitats of coastal cliffs and sea caves, both in excellent condition.
It should be noted that in this area is located the only peninsular population of Diplotaxis ibicensis, and one of the best of Silene hifacensis (Silene d’Ifach), as well as various caves of interest for bats. On the other hand, the area represents the last reference of the reproduction of the osprey in the Community at the end of the eighties.
The habitats that show the greatest interest are those related to cliffs with endemic Limonium and submerged sea caves, as well as rocky slopes. The marine area houses high-value meadows in an excellent state of conservation of Posidonia and Cymodocea.
